Coffee and a Classic Book Subscription Box Review - November 2019

* not sponsored

Coffee and a Classic is a monthly book subscription box that not only gives you a classic book (with three categories to choose from), but also a coffee, tea or hot chocolate to go with it. Each box has one book and every item inside is curated to go along with it! You can go here to check out my September 'Lizzie Borden' box!

November's Classic Non-Fiction Standard Box : 'Into Thin Air'

The book for the classic non-fiction box is "Into Thin Air" by Jon Krakauer. This book is a personal account of the Mt. Everest Disaster that the film 'Everest' was based off of:

" Reeling from the brain-altering effects of oxygen depletion, Jon Krakauer reached the summit of Mt. Everest in the early afternoon on May 10, 1996. He hadn't slept in fifty-seven hours. As he turned to begin the perilous descent from 29, 028 feet (roughly the cruising altitude of an Airbus jetliner), twenty other climbers were still pushing doggedly to the top, unaware that the sky had begun to roil with clouds... This is the terrifying story of what really happened that fateful day at the top of the world, during what would be the deadliest season in the history of Everest. In this harrowing yet breathtaking narrative, Krakauer takes the reader along with his ill-fated expedition, step by precarious step, from Kathmandu to the mountain's pinnacle where, plagued by a combination of hubris, greed, poor judgment, and plain bad luck, they would fall prey to the mountain's unpredictable fury. "

The standard box is like a deluxe box, it came with: the book of the genre I chose (classic non-fiction), a nice sized pouch of tea, a snack, a mug, two bookish items and a bookmark.

TEA: Minty comfort blend from Adagio Teas.

I haven't tried this yet, but my opinion of it will accompany the book review, so stay tuned!

MUG: 13 oz. ceramic campfire coffee mug with Mount Everest design.

I love this mug! It has the raw camping feel to it, and I love the Mt. Everest design on it with the actual height of the mountain on it. This, again, is my most favorite part of this box.

BOOKISH ITEM 1: "Adventure Awaits" metal compass paperweight.

The compass swivels like a real compass, but unfortunately, it doesn't work like one, but the idea of this is really cute. I enjoyed just swiveling it around for awhile, so I believe I'll enjoy picking it up every now and then.

BOOKMARK: Hand stamped metal bookmark with mountain design.

I love the minimalism of this bookmark; it's a metal bookmark with the hand stamped mountain scene at the top. It's understated and beautiful. I will be using this.

SNACK: Peanut butter chocolate performance bar from Epic.

This was the only disappointment in the entire box. I was disappointed because this is a performance bar I can get at my local grocery store, so in a subscription box, I would like it better if I got a snack that I can't get my hands on so easily.

BOOKISH ITEM 2: Screen printed "The Mountains Are Waiting" enamel pin banner.

The only issue I have with this is that it's stated to be an enamel pin banner, but it's not- - - it's a cloth banner with a screen print on it. Other than that, I think this is really cute! I am an outdoor enthusiast when it comes to hiking (I fucking love hiking), so this is already hanging on my wall.

This is my third box from Coffee and a Classic, and I am happy with it! Again, I recommend this box for people who love to sit down with a book and a mug of something hot to drink. If you are interested in getting the book, you can get it here at Amazon!
